Track List
As we embark on this journey
Music by Linda Louisa

Lord, as we embark on this prayerful journey,
help us grasp the depth of Your love
and the sheer breadth of the romance
as You called the world into being.
We praise You for Your glory in creation
the humility of the incarnation,
the fact that time itself is in your train
and that You will one day wrap it up again
when You come to assume Your full and final reign.

Thank You for the rich continuity
that flows through all You do
as You guide and confide in our lives
as Your presence revives.

No words can express how much Your courtship means;
it constantly enriches our friendship
first with Your Son, and then with each other.
Use these friendships for Your glory,
and so write a whole new story
as we heed the hints Your Spirit grants,
and perceive the links in the way You lead.

The Stars can't warm our hearts

Lord, the stars can't warm our hearts,
with tears of love or shouts of joy,
but You stoop down to hear
the songs Your love imparts.

We dare not waste our days
bewailing all we cannot do.
But if we give You our hearts
and we give You our hands,
You will find the means to do the rest.

And so we come as lovers to a tryst,
in the company of a thousand million souls.
Asking that you direct this flow of love
into each encounter you lead us to.
So that each one becomes a new and fulsome reality
enthused with Your love.

No seed we sow escapes Your eye
and passes unseen in Your courts, Lord.
But many times You have watched
what the enemy has scorched,
causing me to miss the goal,
and leaving me quite afraid.

So with great persistence
break through the steep resistance.
Cry long, cry loud,
don't let your spirit be subdued
or your heart be cowed.

And if progress grinds to a halt,
and it is not primarily your fault,
remember that to win the prize,
even precious seeds must die,
for "What you sow comes not to life until it dies;"
for only thus do single seeds expand and multiply.

I am still the same child
who gladly seeks Your face;
Your Spirit remains the thread
that holds me and sustains me.
You free my soul from dread
and guide me through the maze
with head held high and heart ablaze.

In quiet reflection that overcomes all condemnation,
I will help you understand the links and connections
that stem from deep-seated rejections that war against My leading,
and that blind your heart in guilt and dejection.
Uncork all bottled anger, hurt and resentment that would blunt the flow of My love
and I will straighten the path
that leads through your heart.

Come apart, My child
Music by Peter Richards, played by Thomas Herzog

Lord, I am working so hard for You,
desiring just to play my part
and striding our beneath Your banner,
longing to be true in heart.

Come apart, My child.
Come apart and rest awhile.
You're in this for the long haul,
and I desire Your humble all.

  Lord, I need time out from the maul,
so I will seek to heed this call.
But can I learn to rest within Your grace and peace.

Come aside, My holy bride,
You have not missed My grace,
or lost the right to seek My face,
for a contrite broken heart
will surely be
one that beats in time with Me
.

  Dayspring from on high,
draw Your presence night.
To You goes all my longing,
my treasured home and deep belonging.
Sweep the dross from my soul,
and take command and full control.
Draw me deep beneath Your wing
in fresh encounters with the King.

Jesus, Lover of my soul
I open wide my heart
to embrace this intense adoring passion,
for which Your blood was poured.
For You have loved me even as the Father has loved you.
Water the seeds I plant
and grow them for Your glory,
but let all You see in me
be a broken contrite heart
that beats in time with Yours.

Press on, my child, into My heart.
Let Christ be milestone guide and chart.
Resist the sound of disappointment's chords
and the guilt and envy that cut you with their swords;
allow yourself to doubt your doubts
and quiet the noise that darkness shouts.
Sense the perfume that My love brings
and set your face to the coming King.

You love to speak
Music by J.S. Bach
Double Concerto for Oboe and Violin in D Minor, Adagio, J.S.Bach, 1685 - 1750, second movement Adagio, BWV 1060;
Thomas Herzog and Suzannah Herzog

For those who feel the pull of too many pressures
and the pain of too many falls,
let the companionable presence of the Lord restore
the sharpness of their soul
.

For those whose giftings have been laid aside
and fallen out of use,
we ask You to restore their desire and courage
to serve in Your kingdom
.

Where the heart has lost its heart
and is walking in defeat,
may the longing arise to sense
your companionable presence once more
and to enter that stillness of soul where they know
both the exaltation and the agony
of feeling as You feel,
and of seeing as You see.

Jesus said, "The Holy Spirit will bring glory to me
by taking from what is mine
and making it known to you.
All that belongs to the Father is mine
and that's why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine
and make it known to you."

Give us the discernment Lord
to distinguish truth from untruth
and those rather more complex half-truths.
Especially we ask You
to direct our reading and to guide our footsteps
the the bruised and bleeding.

Psalm 65
Blessed are those you choose
and bring near to live in your courts!
We are filled with the good things of your house,
of your holy temple.

You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness,
O God our Saviour,
the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas,
who formed the mountains by your power,
having armed yourself with strength,
who stilled the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
and the turmoil of the nations.

Those living far away fear your wonders;
where morning dawns and evening fades
you call forth songs of joy.

You care for the land and water it;
you enrich it abundantly.
The streams of God are filled with water
to provide the people with grain,

You drench its furrows
and level its ridges;
you soften it with showers
and bless its crops.

You crown the year with your bounty,
and your carts overflow with abundance.

  Ps 66
Come and listen, all you who fear God;
let me tell you what he has done for me.
I cried out to him with my mouth;
his praise was on my tongue.
If I had cherished sin in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened;
but God has surely listened
and heard my voice in prayer.
Praise be to God,
who has not rejected my prayer
or withheld his love from me!

Prayer meditation

You yearn for our company more than we desire Yours,
and Your Spirit constantly explores
how to develop some new dimension
as You watch for our love and comprehension

You love to speak, Lord,
beyond the need for words.
You listen to our inmost thoughts
and bring us to a place of inner quiet.
Guard our hearing
for listening is the gateway
to the intimate communion
that both we and You
are longing for.

Continuity with generations past
Music by Linda Louisa

  The roll call grows
of those whose blood no longer flows
and who have moved on to higher things.
I thank and praise You, Lord,
for the memory of those heroic ones
who have passed at last
beyond the ravages of time and dust
to take their place
in the great communion of saints.
May we play our part now to the full,
so that we ourselves will be no less
when our time comes.

Lord God of History,
Author of all Mystery,
How fiercely the enemy seeks to smother
the wisdom of every other time,
so that each generation struggles up the climb,
unable to perceive the clear connections
that deeper reflections would bestow.

Lord, hold our spirits fast
to lessons from the past,
and then display true skill
to implement Your will.

God of our fathers,
those pioneers and settlers,
conquerors and seers,
when my lens is true
I can begin to view
the links and patterns
that perpetuate Your blessing
as well as those that cause such strife in my life;
strong invisible threads
that Heavenly hands have meshed together
but which fleshly fingers seek to pull asunder,
and demonic claws to shred.

Free us from the deadweight of diseased inheritance,
So that we, Your beloveds, can inherit
the blessings bestowed in prayer
by those who learned to weep.

God of History,
when I am feeling daunted and taunted
and inclined to snap,
help me call to mind
the memory of Your many past deliverances,
and to trust that You will do the same
with the seeds I give you now.

God of explanation,
drop Your plumb line and open wide
the lens that reveals our hidden pride,
and the weaknesses that are our special temptation.
Then let the searchlight of Your love
enable us to face our deep seated dissonance
so that we may shine like the brightest stars
and rise above our ever present scars.

To those that are crying out for Grace
be assured there is no drought in heaven.
No lessening of God's seventy times seven.

You are indeed the God of the 2nd, 3rd and 30th chance.
But we cannot ask You to re-strand and re-launch our lives
unless we are willing to allow You
to apply Your lance
and resist all backward glance.

Prayer Meditation: two
  Thank you, Lord, that from times of old,
You have raised up seers and prophets bold,
who share Your heart
and show what makes a people great.
and yet the people's choice has all but swallowed the prophet's voice.

Praise God for that company of prophets
who refuse to forsake their God-given task,
who never cease to seek and ask
for the removal of people’s masks.
Raise up an anointed band
Who hear Your voice and stride out through the land.

Raise up Your anointed ones, Lord
Music by Vivaldi. Winter, Four Seasons, lead violin, Francis Cummings

My heart is stirred by a noble theme
Destiny - written by Francis Cummings (Verses from Psalm 45) Scottish Psalm

  Psalm 45
My heart is stirred by a noble theme
as I recite my verses for the king;
my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.
You are the most excellent of men
and your lips have been anointed with grace,
since God has blessed you forever.
Gird your sword upon your side, O mighty one;
clothe yourself with splendor and majesty.
In your majesty ride forth victoriously
in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness;
let your right hand display awesome deeds.
Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king's enemies;
let the nations fall beneath your feet.
Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
a sceptre of justice will be the sceptre of your kingdom.

Prayers by Richard Rolle and Bishop of Chichester

Back in the fourteenth century, while studying for the priesthood at Oxford, Richard Rolle came to hate the way his teachers spoke about God as if we were an intellectual concept rather than a living person. He went to live as a hermit on the Yorkshire moors, and came to know God in a deep and intimate way. He subsequently toured the country, praying for the people he met, and singing to them out of the sweetness he had experienced in the presence of the Lord.

This is one of his prayers.

I ask you, Lord Jesus, to inspire within me, Your lover,
an affection that is unbounded,
a desire that is unrestrained,
and a yearning that throws discretion to the winds.

May reason not hold my love in check.
May fear not inhibit my devotion.
May decorum not temper my fervour.

The sweetness of Your love, my Beloved,
so vastly exceeds the pleasure of any earthly joys
that if those who lust after the things of this world
and who know nothing of the delights of Your love
had a single taste of Your sweetness,
they too would become Your lovers.

This is a prayer by Richard of Chichester

Thanks be to you, my Lord, Jesus Christ, For all the benefits that you have given me; For all the pains and insults you have borne for me.

O Holy Jesus, most merciful redeemer,
Friend and brother
Help me to see you more clearly,
love You more dearly
and follow You more nearly.

But You remain the same
Written by Francis Cummings. Verses from Zephaniah;

In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands. (Psalm 102:25)

They will perish, but you remain;
they will all wear out like a garment.
You will roll them up like a robe;
like a garment they will be changed.
But You remain the same,
and Your years will never end."

(P
salm 102:26-27 and Hebrews 1:12)

Gather together, gather together,
O shameful nation, before the appointed time arrives
and that day sweeps on like chaff,
before the fierce anger of the LORD comes upon you,
before the day of the Lord’s wrath comes upon you.

Seek the LORD, all you humble of the land,
you who do what he commands.
Seek righteousness, seek humility;
perhaps you will be sheltered
on the day of the Lord’s anger.

Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD is the Rock eternal.
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you,
all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for You;
Your name and Your renown are the desire of our hearts.
My soul yearns for You in the night;
in the morning my spirit longs for You.
Lord, You will grant us peace,
for all we have accomplished comes from You.
O Lord, other lords have ruled us,
but You alone are the one we worship.

The LORD within her is righteous;
He does no wrong.
Morning by morning He dispenses His justice,
and every new day He does not fail,
yet the unrighteous know no shame.
"Then will I purify the lips of the peoples,
that all of them may call on the name of the LORD
and serve Him shoulder to shoulder.

On that day you will not be put to shame
for all the wrongs you have done to me,
because I will remove from this city
those who rejoice in their pride.
Never again will you be haughty
on my holy hill.
But I will leave within you
the meek and humble,
who trust in the name of the LORD.

Sing, O Daughter of Zion;
shout aloud, O Israel!
Be glad and rejoice with all your heart,
O Daughter of Jerusalem!

"Do not fear, O Zion;
do not let your hands hang limp.
The LORD your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
And quiet you with his love,
As He rejoices over you with singing."

Draw close when the tide is out
Adagio by Alessandro Marcello 1669 - 1747 from a Concerto in D minor, second movement

From daybreak till midnight
the tide will turn four times,
even as the clock continues its chimes.
Let nothing hinder the incoming tide,
as You prepare Your Heavenly Bride.

Draw close when the tide feels out, and we are tempted to begin to doubt.
May we trust Your purposes in each low tide,
when You appear to hide,
then bravely catch each new wave
that You so lovingly provide.
Even through the deepest drought,
we owe it to You to seek You out
longing for the place of deeper release as we yearn for Your Spirit’s return.

The prophet JONAH declared
"When my life was ebbing away,
I remembered you, LORD,
and my prayer rose to you,
to your holy temple.
"Those who cling to worthless idols
forfeit the grace that could be theirs.
But I, with a song of thanksgiving,
will sacrifice to you.
What I have vowed I will make good.
Salvation comes from the LORD."

So often, Lord, when we are feeling insecure,
it is because we are using the wrong set of measuring tools.
Were we to see the weighing machines
that You use to value all we do,
we might not recognise them at all,
for You evaluate by entirely different criteria,
seeking less the outcomes the world considers good
than the love and devotion with which we carry out our tasks,
and the measure of obedience that lies within them.

So realign our heart’s desire
to be more in tune with Yours,
for the more we succeed in doing this
the more joy we will know in our spirits
and the deeper the comfort we will bring to others too.

Lord, we often feel let down by others in the course of our pilgrimage
and grieved by the way things work out.
But it is amazing how you bring good out of seeming catastrophes
and turn situations right round for your glory.
Help me not to be disappointed but to praise
and to trust that You can turn our disappointments
into Your appointments.
For this truly honours You.

Prayer for Prodigals
Music by Linda Louisa
  This is a prayer for prodigals
who have walked away from the Lord and
drifted from the faith they once had,
and those who were leaders of the work of God but who now, for whatever reason, no longer are.
Pour out your love on those we are concerned for, Father.
Forgive us all we have done,
and all that they have experienced elsewhere that has caused them to turn away from You.
We pray for clarity of faith to be restored,
and the Spirit of Jesus to flow again in hearts grown cool.

Send men and women of faith
to touch them with the word of God.
Speak to them in dreams by night and in visions by day
May they know the love that never lets them down,
and may they feel Your presence once again

Make it easy for them to come back, Lord
may neither pride nor shame hold them at a distance,
but may the Love of God make the connection
that leads to eternal life,
In Jesus Name, Amen.

Kyrie Eleison

Kyrie Eleison
Lord have mercy
Christe Eleison
Christ have mercy
Kyrie Eleison

    At the turning of the season;
In the victory of your heart
Over commonsense and reason.
In the raking up of leaves;
And the turning of life’s pages;
In a whispered humble prayer
Or our broken hearted rages.

Kyrie Eleison
Lord have mercy
Christe Eleison
Christ have mercy
Kyrie Eleison

In the way we make our choices;
On that lonely, broken road
Through the cries in children’s voices.
In the beating of the rain;
Or the burning of the stubble;
In the perished, frightened eyes
And the mists of tears and struggle.

Kyrie Eleison
Lord have mercy
Christe Eleison
Christ have mercy
Kyrie Eleison

In the breaking and the ending
The washing of all sorrows
The healing and the mending
The fading of the heartache
And the lifting of the shadows
The hope upon the mountains
The comfort in the meadows

Kyrie Eleison
Lord have mercy
Christe Eleison
Christ have mercy

Pour out your healing balms
On each failure, fault and fear
Come hold us in your arms
And be forever near.

Kyrie Eleison
Lord have mercy
Christe Eleison
Christ have mercy

Prayer for Israel. You yearn for the land you set your heart upon as for a first-born child.
  Lord we declare your glory among the nations
Your marvellous deeds among all peoples,
for You take especial care
all Your hand has formed.
We give you now the land You first set Your heart upon,
whose soul Jesus quite reshaped,
and for whom You yearn as for a first born son.
We pray for its people, so long the despised among the nations,
who all but wandered from their Messianic expectations;
and Jerusalem, that You set in the midst of the nations
with hostile countries all around.

We give You now its immediate future,
its texture, soil and infrastructure.
The outreach of Your people there,
and the nation’s response to them,
Pour out upon these mountains
the longed for springs and fountains
that the prophet Jeremiah foresaw
concerning the promised Messiah,
and whatever direction and protection
will prove the key
to bring the nation to its knees.

Whatever You desire the enemy opposes,
and so we pray, let not those who gaze upon the land with envy
succeed against Your will,
but rather let Your full and perfect blessing
rest upon the people and the land,
and all the peoples of the Middle East
who are invited to Your feast.

I am going to My Father
  My children, I am going to my Father, and to your Father,
to prepare the way for you.
A little while and you will see me yet,
and then another little while and you will not.
Will you let me go? Do not be afraid; your love will survive the parting, for though you will not see Me often you will find it best that I return whence I came,
to My Father and to your Father.
Practice living with an open hand,
not holding on too tight,
but offering everything back to Me,
so that when your work is done,
and you are on the homeward run,
you will have the grace to pass the baton on.

Therefore since you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

All creation here below
  All creation here below
sings the glories of the heavens above
and the One who hymns creation into being.
By day, Your leading is clear
by night it assumes more subtle shades,
but both alike are open to Your Spirit,
and so we can trust You,
for just as we are wonderfully and fearfully made
so You are fitting together the full span of Your purposes for our lives.

The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun,
which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is hidden from its heat.

The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
The precepts of the LORD are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is pure,
enduring forever.
The ordinances of the LORD are sure
and altogether righteous.

They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the comb.
By them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
Who can discern his errors?
Forgive my hidden faults.
Keep your servant also from wilful sins;
may they not rule over me.
Then will I be blameless,
innocent of great transgression.
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
